LECTURES
Mr. Mike introduced the module and briefed us on the tasks ahead. For this project, we’ll be working with people outside of our design school, either students from other courses or external companies. Our goal is to design and present work based on their specific requirements or objectives. This is a group-based module, and each team must include at least three different specialisations to make the most of our combined skills.
For our first week, we were tasked to:
- Form a group
- Begin research on our chosen topic
- Study our competitors
- Analyse the functions
In the first lecture, Mr. Mike also presented the list of projects available to us. After forming a group of 6–7 members, we decided to take work with Food Aid Foundation and Food Security Impact Lab as our industry collaborator. During our initial discussion, we chose the group leader, and I ended up with the role.

In one of our initial discussions, we gathered data and compile it on the Miro Board. My responsibility was to study Food Aid Foundation (FAF), Malaysia’s first food bank NGO. I explored their mission, target communities, challenges in engagement, recent innovations, and strategies used to build trust. The research involved analysing their work with B40 families, refugees, and stateless children, as well as evaluating the effectiveness of different outreach methods such as QR codes, WhatsApp communication, and parent-to-parent testimonials. One of the key challenges was identifying which approaches truly resonated with the community and which fell short. Below is the analysis I compiled.

After I was done with the research, I started summarising everything.

Then, we had a meeting with Dr Leong to understand more about the project we are doing. I also took some notes based on the things that were mentioned by Dr Leong.

Then, we continued with our Interviews and user personas, based on our findings. I worked on this task with the help of Myra and Zhu Rui Yi.

Since we were struggling a bit on the insights part, Mr Mike guided us to the right direction.

After that, we started producing our designs, initially, I was to work on the posters, Rui Yi work on the recipe cards, Sima Heshu work on the logo, Guan Yaxin works on the social media posts & Myra works on the Microsite.
While everyone showed their progress, I realised that everyone's designs weren't consistent as we didn't have a finalised colour palette and typeface. So I discussed with the others to help finalise both of these matters.

Then, Ninghe ended up taking the initiative to work on the posters. However, I felt as if the design was too simple and the message of our product isn't being delivered well through the posters. So, I took over instead while still keeping the graphical elements that she designed.

Recipe CardsAfter that, Zhu Rui Yi sent her progress for the recipe cards, however, i felt as if the design looks a bit unprofessional and sent her a few references she could follow. but due to her having other assignments, she was unable to redo the designs, so, I took charge of the recipe cards as well.
