REFLECTION

Experience
The Advanced Typography was quite the journey. It provided an enlightening exploration of the complex area of type design and application. Initially, learning different fonts and letter styles seemed tricky, and it still is. But, through a combination of practical projects, lectures, and critiques, I was able to develop a deeper understanding of the art and science of typography. Furthermore, unravelling the history of typography added a layer of depth on how things have changed over time. Doing hands-on projects while adding my knowledge of typography has definitely improved my skills and helped me realize how much thought goes into the process of designing texts. Overall, Advanced Typography has given me a new perspective on design.

Observations
Throughout learning Advanced Typography, I noticed that minor typographic adjustments can significantly affect how a design is perceived and works. Advanced Typography has made me look at signs, advertisements and various textual elements in a more analytical manner. Overall, it has changed my perceptions in instilling an appreciation for details in texts.

Findings
The main lesson that I found this module has taught me was the effectiveness of typography in expressing tone and emotion. Furthermore,  I also learned that good typography requires achieving a balance between use and aesthetics in order to make the text both aesthetically pleasing and easily readable. Finally, learning the history behind typography showed me how styles from the past still shape the designs we see today.
