INSTRUCTIONS

PROJECT 1 - PROPOSAL

(Week 1 - Week 3)
For our first task, we are required to come out with a topic as a group related to Cultural Sensitivity in Design. We have to study a cultural phenomenon, or a particular subculture that is perceived as 'sensitive' as well as 'frame' our study within the chosen theme.

Week 1
In our first week of this module, we had to form a group with other students in this module. Our group consisted 6 members which were Azim Azariff, Myra, Li Yanxi, Chen Nan and Ye Xinyan. After choosing our group members we chose our group leader which is Azariff.

Furthermore, we created a WhatsApp group chat so that we were able to communicate and brainstorm our ideas together virtually.

Week 2
Since the second week is discussion week, our group met up in campus to brainstorm ideas and come up with a topic. Our initial topic was supposed to be 'Feng Shui', however after many considerations, we changed our topic to Colour Design in Chinese Culture.

The main colours we have chosen to research about are red, yellow and white.

After choosing our topic, we assigned our tasks. Azariff, Myra and I were in charged of researching on the colours while Chen Nan, Ye Xinyan and Li Yanxi were assigned on creating the google slides.

Week 3
On our 3rd week, Azariff, Myra and I worked on making a video presentation to present the slides that we have created.

PROJECT 2 - FIELD STUDY

(Week 4 - Week 5)

Week 4
For our second project, we are assigned to collect visual, oral, textual and tactile artefacts in relation to our first project, proposal. Therefore as I had class during the weekdays, 3 of our group mates Li Xanyi, Chen Nan and Ye Xinyan, took in charge on going to a museum and taking pictures that correlates to the colours we have chosen. After the museum, Azariff, Myra and I created a google slide presentation for our field study.








Week 5
During week 5, it was consultation week with the lecturers. After looking at our slides, we have received feedback from our lecturer that it would be better if we did more research. So we decided that we are going to interview 3 people that lives/lived in China. After that, we put it in our google slides.

Project 2 - Field Study Presentation

PROJECT 3 - FINAL

(Week 6 - Week 7)
For this final project, we have to produce visual design outcomes related to their interpretation of the given theme. Azariff, Myra and I were assigned to create the posters as well as the google slides. While Li Xanyi, Chen Nan and Ye Xinyan did the video presentation.

Typographic Systems Eight major variations with an infinite number of permutations: - Axial - Radial - Dilatational  - Random - Grid - Modular - Transitional - Bilateral Typographical organisation is complex due to the elements being dependent on communication in order to function. Additional criteria that comes to play; hierarchy, order of reading, legibility, and contrast. The typographic systems are akin to the term  'shape grammars'  given by architectures.
