Task 2 / Visual Analysis
For task 2, we are required to recap the task 2 brief as well as write 300-350 words visual analysis on the design that we have selected in task 1.

Phase 1: Observation
This artwork was designed in a portrait format. In the center is a face of a lady that has features resembling sea creatures, plants and sea waves. As seen in the picture, her hair is made out of seaweed, she has a fish as her lips, and sea waves as her eyebrows. Under her chin is a school of fish swimming. Above her, shows a boat sailing through cloudy weather. The lady overall is depicted as part of the underwater, blending in with the creatures of the sea. In terms of the visual elements, the main colors observed are blue, green and white. Overall, the colors used suits the sea theme very well. (113 words)
Phase 2: Analysis
Title of Artwork: STRAWS
Designed by: Nadhrah
Year: 2024
Medium: Poster
Reflection
What have I learnt from this module?
This module has made me understand visual communication. It has thought me how to communicate using layout, typography color theory and other design elements. Furthermore, I have learnt about the visual hierarchy. It has taught me the importance of the size of the design, color, and contrast to create hierarchy and emphasize important elements.
What did I enjoy the most?
I really enjoyed task 3 as I was able to design my own poster in correlation to the goal that I have chosen which is Goal 13: Climate Action. It was fun exploring my own creativity on how to design a poster relating to Climate Action. Furthermore, incorporating my knowledge based on what I have learnt in this module has also helped me in developing my final outcome even better. Moreover, I had the help of my lecturer and use his inputs to develop my artwork.
What have I learnt about myself in this module?
I have learnt that when it comes to designing, I don't really incorporate design principles in them which is very bad when trying to convey a message through my artworks. Therefore, with this realisation, I try to improve myself and take more consideration into putting design principles in my artwork.

Phase 2: Analysis
This design is symmetrically balanced. As seen in the picture, the proportions of her face are well balanced which makes it symmetrical. Furthermore, the artwork contains emphasis in the center of the picture. The size value of the lady's face has achieved dominance in the artwork, making viewers' eyes immediately focus on her. The movement of the fishes under her chin leads the viewers' eyes from one side to another. The harmony of the artwork can be seen through the colors used, as well as the overall theme of the design. There is unity that can be found in the artwork as well as the elements used in it, complements them together. (112 words)
Phase 3: Interpretation
Tina Spiro, the designer behind these artworks, have plunged her art into the ocean's, revealing its struggles against human harm. Her paintings portrays the beauty and fragility of marine life, such as the plants and the sea creatures underwater. Yet, within this beauty, it has an underlying meaning for water pollution and habitat destruction. Her visual stories urges us to face the consequences of our actions and rally for the protection of our oceans and their diverse inhabitants. (78 words)
Task 3 / Design
For task 3, we are required to produce a design inspired by the artwork we have chosen in previous tasks. We are told to incorporate design principles for our design as well as use appropriate medium/materials that can help us convey our visual message.
