Experience
Experience
Diving into the module Typography was quite the journey. Initially, learning different fonts and letter styles seemed tricky, and it still is. However, it has taught me the significance behind it when communicating. Furthermore, unravelling the history of typography added a layer of depth on how things have changed over time. Doing hands-on projects while adding my knowledge of typography has definitely improved my skills and helped me realize how much thought goes into the process of designing texts. Overall, typography has given me a new perspective on design.
Observations
Learning typography has made me pay attention to things I never did. Before this, I see letters simply as components of written language. But now, they give me intricate forms and distinct details. Typography has made me look at signs, advertisements and various textual elements in an analytical manner. Overall, it has changed my perceptions in instilling an appreciation for details in texts.
Findings
Studying typography has definitely opened doors for me to discover new things. Now, fonts aren't just a bunch of letters; it has stories and meanings to it. Learning the history behind typography showed me how styles from the past still shape the designs we see today. The assignments that I did has showed me the importance of spacing and choice of font. I have learnt that designing the fonts to make it look attractive yet easy to understand is really significant.
